you do know there are dark skinned Japanese folks, right? Heiji Hattori in Detective Conan is one. the Ainu tribes of Hokkaido Island are a group who tend to have darker skin than their 'southern' countrymen. especially those that had predominantly Asian mainlanders for ancestors who migrated/invaded over several thousands of years of the island chains' pre-history. several genetic studies have shown that the Aniu are more closely related to the Polynesian groups who traveled around the Pacific than the mainland Asians.
